In Love with Life

Opening my eyes this morning, a wave of euphoria gently made its way over my body. Maybe euphoria isn’t the right word… Perhaps joy explains it better… Maybe peace… Regardless of the word choice, it was magnificent!

The first thought that entered my mind was that I am truly blessed. I have a wonderful life, living in one of the most beautiful places on the earth, surrounded by people and animals that love and adore me. And, I love and adore them.

Picturing my life, I was consumed by an overwhelming sense of gratitude. So, I said a prayer of gratitude for many of the blessing in my life.

It sounded like this:
I AM so happy and grateful for Diane
I AM so happy and grateful for Titan and Malia
I AM so happy and grateful for my parents and my brothers
I AM so happy and grateful for the people who manufactured my pillow
I AM so happy and grateful for those who constructed my bed
I AM so happy and grateful for the workers that built this condo
I AM so happy and grateful for the birds singing their beautiful songs
I AM so happy and grateful for the workers who picked the coffee beans that I am about to enjoy
I AM so happy and grateful to have another opportunity to create my vision
I AM so happy and grateful for my family and friends on the mainland
I AM so happy and grateful that I am able to breathe
I AM so happy and grateful for the awesome weather on these magical Hawaiian Islands
I AM so happy and grateful for the farmers that collected the fruit I’m about to use for my morning smoothie
I AM so happy and grateful for those that transported the fruit to the supermarket and farmers market
I AM so happy and grateful for the players I get to coach
I AM so happy and grateful for my friends in Hawaii
I AM so happy and grateful for my business associates whom I get to play with
I AM so happy and grateful for our car
I AM so happy and grateful for the abundance that surrounds me
I AM so happy and grateful for the prosperity that runs through me like the ocean
I AM so happy and grateful for my computer, which allows me to do what I love
I AM so happy and grateful for all the blessing You bestow upon me

This was a such wonderful way to start out the day. If one isn’t grateful for the little things in their life, how do they expect the Universe/God/All That Is/Infinite Intelligence to provide the big things?

For those of you that think the Law of Vibration is “Woo Woo” stuff, keep track of the first thoughts you have in the morning. Are you in a “bad” mood? Note how the rest of your day goes. Do this for a couple of days.

After a couple of days, place a note next to your bed reminding you to start out each day with a list of 20 things you are grateful for. Picture those things and let your body feel the feelings associated with them. Keep a notebook next to your bed so you can write them down. It will only take a few minutes.

C’mon, I dare ya;)

Awesome suggestions, Paul. I need to put that notebook next to my bed.

Congratulations Paul!
You’re site & newsletter look very good!

Hi Paul, or maybe I should say Aloha! Nice website. Here’s a link to an article that may help you out–it’s called ’1000 True Fans’. Check it out, and best of luck!

It rained today. What a blessing. As soon as class was over, my teacher walked to the front door and opened it and surprised, yelled, “Oh no, it’s raining. Oh no.” I smiled. “Levi, did you bring your umbrella?”

“No,” I said, “This is fantastic weather!” As I accompanied her to the train station and then walked the rest of the way home, I smiled being grateful for the smell of rain, the clouds in the sky, every drop that landed on and around me.. for the liquid life that fell effortlessly from somewhere above. I remember just stopping on my way home and thanking the Spirit/God/Tao (it doesn’t matter what you call it) for just my breath and another day to enjoy this ineffable existence we call life. It’s said that there are some people alive right now who would do anything to even see rain clouds or smell rain, much less feel it on their skin.
Just to paraphrase what you said, Pablo, gratitude, gratitude and gratitude. I am on my knees every morning thanking the Great Spirit/Universe/Tao/God/Allah/Mazda/Yaweh/Ra (again, whatever) for a wonderful rest throughout the evening and another inexplicably beautiful opportunity to have another day. Every night the same thing:

“Thank you, Dear Spirit, for every mote of existence of all that I experienced in this wondrous creation today. Thank you for every ounce of life in every cell of my body. Thank you for my sight and all of the experiences that teach me about myself so that I may learn. Thank you so very much for my beautiful wife and all that she is to me ….

Gratitude brings us back in line with the Universe and ourselves. At any minute of any time of our lives there is always something to be grateful for. Just think, you could very well not be breathing right now, or be able to move the lower half of your body or homeless…

The past is over. The future is not guaranteed to any of us. All we have is this moment. Everyday is a gift.

I am blessed every day. The rain is just another example of that.

Great post. I’m gonna try this although I may have to wait to get some food in front of the kiddos before I can actually make a list of anything!

Thanks Brent! Thanks whoever left the link! Levi, great post and thank you for being such a wonderful example of living a life of gratitude. I miss you! Cheryl, gratitude is the key to… EVERYTHING you desire;)

Love it Paulie….you are an inspiration. Can’t wait to get your book so that I can finish it.
