~ FOREWORD by MARK VICTOR HANSEN
Have you ever watched an athlete accomplish an amazing physical feat …
Or witnessed an entrepreneur achieve phenomenal career and financial success …
Or you might have observed a person who overcame amazing obstacles in their personal life …
And wondered – HOW DID YOU DO THAT?
This book tells those stories. How people just like you are able to overcome their fears, hold onto their courage, and personally grow and expand beyond what anyone expects of them.
When all you know is the beginning and ending of a success story, getting your own “happy ending” can seem like a fairy tale.
But when you know how they did it, the story becomes real—and so does your dream.
How Did You Do That! is a collection of stories about people who achieved lifelong goals, found lost loves, amassed fortunes, experienced medical miracles, discovered their true calling and made a difference. They are stories of humble beginnings and heroic endings, but they are also stories of “how” — how they did it, and how you can do it, too.

“An Outlaw’s Odyssey”
This cycle of violence, drugs and self-sabotage followed me everywhere I went, for years: Europe, Oklahoma, New York, Virginia. But it all started to change the day my girlfriend, Diane, left me. We were living in Washington, D.C., and she just couldn’t watch me self-destruct anymore. She moved five thousand miles away to Hawaii and I cast myself down a hole. I had a drug dealer move in with me. One night, I decided to kill myself. I took all of his cocaine, dumped it on a plate, grabbed a bottle of Jack Daniels and started laying into all of it.
Then, I felt something wet on my neck. I thought it was the ceiling leaking. I looked up. It was Titan, a pit bull I’d rescued in Maryland. I’d rescued him because I didn’t think anyone else would. He was licking me and looking at me with eyes that said, “Who’s going to take care of me?”
I realized I was responsible for another living being, and that snapped me out of my own little bubble of depression. I realized it didn’t have to be this way. It is nearly impossible to be depressed if you’re concerned with the welfare of someone—or something—else…
I immersed myself in the process of change. I read everything I could. I went to transformational seminars. I got into martial arts and started meditating. I started writing a book about my journey. I wrote in first person so that the reader could experience what I was experiencing. But writing about me was a risk and fear crept in. And I responded to fear as I always had: with booze and drugs…
People need to look at themselves with a different set of glasses to find out what’s prohibiting them from living extraordinary lives. I help people see that. I help them find those limiting beliefs and start recognizing them for what they are: illusions…
When people are doing what they’re passionate about, they’re in alignment and start attracting what they need. After finishing my book, I spoke with publishers who were interested, but ultimately decided to publish it on my own. At the time, I had one editor and knew nothing about publishing. Within a few months I had a team of editors, proofreaders, web designers, graphic designers and branding people. I’m constantly attracting people who support my platform. Simply operating from love rather than fear has made all the difference in what I create and attract…
